Howard J. Peters, OD Named Professional of the Year in Optometry
Howard Peters celebrates a successful career as a medical professional and author

ATLANTA, GA, October 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Howard J. Peters, Retired Optometrist for Eye Q and Author, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Optometry. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Dr. Peters' interest in eye care was sparked in the late 1940s by the pioneering work of his late uncle, Mr. Sol Scriven, in the U.K.'s first mass production of contact lenses for the general public. Today, he is a retired consulting optometrist specializing in pre- and post-refractive surgery. His expertise has been cultivated by his five decades of professional experience in the field, much of which Dr. Peters spent running three of his own optometry practices in and around London. He most recently practiced at Eye Q, where he evaluated and treated patients with refractive problems.

Since his retirement, Dr. Peters has focused much of his efforts to his writing career. As an author, he expresses his ideas of science fiction and politics in print. His first novel, "Download," is a retelling of Noah's Ark in a science fiction setting. He is now working on a sequel to this work, appropriately entitled "Upload." Dr. Peters also writes political commentary.

In 1961, Dr. Peters earned his inclusion in the UK register of Optometry from Northhampton College, London U.K. and went on to complete a fellowship with The College of Optometrists. Dr. Peters obtained a U.S. green card as an outcome of his ground-breaking work in refractive surgery with the Optimax Clinic in Finchley Road, London, U.K., and with Trevor Woodhams in Atlanta, Ga. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and licensed to practice in both the U.K. and U.S.

In addition to his distinction as Professional of the Year, Dr. Peters was recently selected for inclusion in Pro-Files Magazine and named an Elite American Artist by Cambridge Who's Who. In 2010, he was featured in Cambridge Publishing's "Top 101 Industry Experts" book. Dr. Peters believes that he has been able to achieve success as both a medical professional and an author because of his supreme modesty. He hopes to become a well-established author in the years to come.
