Dr. Ying Zheng joined CooperVision , a medical device company for contact lense manufacturing, in 2008. She specializes in polymer material synthesis and development and polymer surface modification and analysis. As a scientist, she is responsible for designing new materials and enhancing processes for new product development. Prior to assuming her current position, Dr. Zheng worked in academia and decided to join CooperVision because she wanted to work in an industry that was closer to everyday life and made a positive impact on people's lives. Featured in the journals Macromolecules and Langmuir, she attributes her success to being internally motivated and knowing what she wants.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Dr. Zheng received her Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry in 2006. She is affiliated with the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi and gives generously to her alma mater. Dr. Zheng plans to build up expertise on polymer materials and surface science.
