NAVH is On the Move
To better serve the hard of seeing , a national nonprofit moves its San Francisco office.
/24-7PressRelease/ - SAN FRANCISCO, CA, July 19, 2006 - On July 8, 2006, National Association for Visually Handicapped (NAVH), a national nonprofit working exclusively with the hard of seeing , relocated its San Francisco office. The office, officially named the Ruth Ann Rosenberg Center, is now located at 507 Polk Street in the heart of downtown San Francisco. The more convenient location and lower overhead costs mean even better services for the visually impaired. The center was named after Ruth Ann Rosenberg, who has been a generous donor to NAVH for over three decades.
The new office will continue to provide the same services to the 13 Western United States that the old office on Balboa Street provided. These services include access to an extensive collection of visual aids, special lighting and electronic gadgets; a discussion group for people with low vision; a large print loan library with over 9,000 titles that can be mailed free to anyone in the United States or can be browsed at the Ruth Ann Rosenberg Center; and referrals to eye care specialists and other services for the visually impaired.
In addition to moving, the western regional office of NAVH is under new leadership. Pamela Fitzgerald, MSCJA, MSCP, the new Associate Director, has extensive experience working with people with disabilities, which she is enthusiastic about using in her new role. She says, "This organization is very inspiring. I am looking forward to educating the public about the needs of hard of seeing individuals. I am also honored to work with Dr. Marchi, the Founder/CEO of NAVH, who has been so wonderful for the low vision field. I look forward to reaching out to many more people and providing them a pathway to a higher quality of life." One of Pamela's goals for NAVH during the next year is to increase national recognition of this unusual organization.
